Abstract

This study aimed to assess reading history in students from a Brazilian federal university. This is a sectional study, web survey, conducted in April 2022, with 303 students from the Federal University of Sergipe. Students were found to be at risk for mild dyslexia in accordance with the parameters defined by the reading history questionnaire. Specifically, males were at higher risk for dyslexia. In addition, evidence confirmed that gender, family income, discipline locking, academic attendance, and family risk were the factors statistically associated with literacy. Thus, such factors should then be taken into consideration when assessing the reading skills of college students.
