Since scientific articles have the function of recording the knowledge and the journals of disseminating this knowledge, editors play a crucial role as intermediaries to the advance of science. Among its functions is to promote visibility through indexing their journals in bibliographic databases. Thus, it is necessary to evaluate the journals regarding the indexing and to give guidance to the community of referees about the attributes that can promote greater relevance and quality to the selected papers. This paper reflects on how the most cited and uncited articles, or the citation analysis can benefit the manuscripts selection by the editors and can benefit the design of the article by the authors.
